Peer Mediation

Peer mediation empowers our Year 6 students to calmly resolve conflict. The programme teaches life skills that enable peaceful conflict resolution. There are peer mediators on duty in pairs during all break times, making themselves available for all students in all areas of the school to resolve issues between two disputing parties or small groups.

This is an extra curricular programme and we are very lucky to have a deep pool of students who are eager to take leadership roles and learn the skills of conflict resolution.

At the end of each year, Year 5 students are asked to apply by sending in a resume stating their strengths that will enable them to become a leader within the school. In the first term of the year those who have been successful with their application are asked to complete two days of training. The duty roster is negotiated and implemented by the students. Once a negotiated amount of duties are complete they can receive a School Responsibility certificate and after that a peer mediator badge.
