Who's coming to 13?
CALLING ALL... DADS, MUMS, OLDER BROTHERS & SISTERS, AUNTIES, UNCLES, GRANDPARENTS!!!!
Learning to read is such an important part of growing up. What is even more important is that your child witnesses a love of reading and sees the people closest to them taking the time to read.
How many more hours do children see adults watch TV or work on the computer rather than sit down with a good book to read?
What's happening in Room 13?
We are promoting a love of reading in Room 13. I would like to invite you to come in for 10 minutes or so and read to our class if you are available. It will be run a bit like a 'Guess Who's coming to dinner?', in that it will be a surprise whose family member is coming in each day. So much of a surprise that even your own child won't know you are coming!
What book will I read?
I will have a stack of great books available for you to choose one from or you can bring in one of your child's favourite books from home if you wish.
I haven't read to a large group of children before?
This is by no means an assessment or judgement of your reading or english skills. It is simply a chance for your child to witness someone important to them read to their class and get a buzz from it. It will be so powerful and valuable that I urge you to please take the time to consider coming in if you have a free afternoon.
Please note that this is open to all family members.
Let me know if you are keen and if there's a particular afternoon that
suits you best. You can email me or send a note to school with your child.
Check out the brave ones below who have made it to our wall of fame. You can be next!!
