Bike Safety
False ctl00_mainContent_pageDisplayer_hiddenIsMobile We have been lucky to have Constable Stace come into our rooms once a week this term, to teach us about BIKE SAFETY.
Week 1: He has taught us about helmets - how to test them for safety, how to purchase a NZ approved one, and how to wear one! Yes, its sounds silly, but once he explained what a lot of people do, we understood the importance of wearing them correctly.
Week 2: This week, Constable Stace has shown us the importance of lights and reflectors on our bikes. We went through each part of the bike and what should be on it. We had a checklist that we went through to make sure our bikes are safe.
We are really enjoying the information we are getting from Constable Stace. Here are some comments from our class so far:
"I went home and checked my helmet"
"I tightened my straps so that my helmet fit my head properly"
"I used to wear a cap under my helmet, but now I don't"
"I think I need to check my brakes"
We are looking forward to future weeks. We will be riding our bikes and learning road codes and rules, and how to keep safe on New Zealand roads. There are some 'crazy' drivers out there!
We will update this as the weeks go by with new photos and information.
